About 'paying school loan'|...WE not now paying for it still in student loans payments or in deferment so WE can Pay other schools more money (from mostly borrowed funds...

In               today's               economy               many               people               are               thinking               about               going               back               to               school               to               further               their               education.

A               major               hesitation               for               some               is               acquiring               debt               through               student               loans.

Many               wonder               if               it               is               worth               it,               how               they               will               manage               the               debt               and               how               long               it               will               take               to               pay               it               off.

Here               are               a               few               tips               for               managing               your               student               loans.

By               the               end               of               my               college               career               I               owed               over               $20,000               in               student               loans.

If               you               look               at               the               big               picture               it               seems               impossible               to               catch               up               when               you               start               adding               rent,               food               costs,               a               car               payment               and               utility               bills.

After               college               I               landed               a               job               at               a               lodge               as               an               Outdoor               Recreation               Guide               taking               tours               into               Yosemite               National               Park.

There               are               many               places               where               you               can               work               for               a               season               or               two               and               save               up               while               doing               something               really               fun.

Many               seasonal               jobs               include               room               and               board               and               this               is               a               great               way               to               start               saving               and               get               your               feet               under               you               before               charging               forward.
I               set               up               a               standard               loan               repayment               plan               and               began               digging               myself               out               of               the               hole.

I               spent               time               researching               and               found               that               there               was               an               interest               rate               incentive               if               I               changed               my               method               of               payment               to               automatic               withdraw               from               my               bank               account               and               made               my               first               12               payments               on               time.

This               knocked               my               interest               rate               down               to               3.37%.

There               are               many               repayment               plans               depending               on               your               specific               needs               so               it               is               important               to               research               your               options.

I               began               making               the               minimum               payments               on               my               loan               and               during               the               months               I               had               some               extra               money               I               would               make               an               additional               payment               whether               it               was               $20               or               $200               which               went               directly               to               the               principal               balance.

Over               time               this               really               added               up               and               I               was               able               to               pay               off               my               student               loan               sooner               and               with               less               interest.
I               made               my               student               loan               payment               top               priority,               choosing               not               to               buy               a               new               car               or               anything               I               really               didn't               need.

It               was               more               important               to               get               out               of               debt               than               to               acquire               additional               debt,               especially               at               the               beginning               of               my               career.

I               was               able               to               pay               off               the               full               balance               of               my               student               loan               in               4               years               and               nothing               felt               better               than               making               that               last               payment.

For               me,               getting               my               education               was               definitely               worth               the               student               loan               debt               and               if               you               can               manage               your               money               and               are               willing               to               make               a               few               sacrifices               it               can               be               relatively               painless!
